What Or Who Controls Us?

We have grown to feel very dependent on outside circumstances to feel good. Living in a 3D world, it is the material realms that we give all our credit to. It is like we “believe in them”, they hover over us like undeniable circumstances, situations, happenings, conditions. In our daily lives, we hardly ever include in our thinking that what we see before us is what we have created. For millennia, we have been trapped in a victim consciousness where we have to fight against an outside enemy.

This “outside enemy” never disappears. As there are always challenging situations in our lives, it is never ultimately “defeated”. So to some extent, we are always being taken advantage of, sabotaged, betrayed, abused, maltreated, humiliated.

I have found that with advancing on my spiritual path, to an ever increasing degree I become master of my own self. More and more, I recognize my own role in creating what happens around me and to me, and more and more I am able to take a step back, return to silence, and choose my reaction. Not from a place of wild emotion tossing me about like a little ship in a hurricane on the ocean, but from a place of assessing what needs to be done, what my responsibility is, where I draw my borders and how I can assist others and myself in bringing harmony and balance. I am not governed any more by what is happening around me which leads to losing my fear. There is a verse in the bible that describes how this works, in Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” When my intention is to move towards the light in anything I do and experience, every step along the way is a step higher on the path of ascension. It depends on my intention, not on anyone else or anything else.

When we find back our intrinsic understanding of ourselves as spiritual beings, there is no reason to fear even death any more. We know our bodies are vessels, and we have changed vessels many times as we will in the future. That does not mean we will expose ourselves willingly to life danger, but if death was our ultimate source of terror, then that may vanish, as a result of which we cannot be controlled any more by our fears.

Once we recognize our independence, our strength, our sovereignty, it gives way to a deep peace inside. When we act out of this peace, this calm, our actions are in alignment with the greater good, the harmony of the Universe, the Divine. The results of our actions come from a different frequency than that of disturbance, anger, hurt, confusion, anxiety, denial. Our actions spread the frequency they come from – which is something that along with the memory that we are spiritual beings, we have forgotten. Being result-oriented, we believe we need to take certain steps to achieve a desired result. That is true, but the longterm result they bring for us and others eventually is determined by the frequency our actions stem from.

The realms of this dualistic 3D plane is determined by the contrast of Light and Dark. The peace beyond understanding takes us beyond those realms and lifts us up and out of it. It does not mean we do not recognize what is happening and act according to what we see as our responsibility. But the energy we spread with these actions is not prolonging a war. In this energy, war simply does not exist.

This is a challenging thought for many. It can be likened to the different states of water. There is ice, water, and vapor. According to its different frequencies, it has different ways of reaction with the environment. Vapor becomes invisible and penetrates, whereas ice is solid and you can hit it. It can be broken. Vapor vibrates much faster and elevates itself. It cannot be trapped as easily as ice or water. When we vibrate higher, there is less and less solid matter we bump against, because we have risen above it. We rise above situations rather than prolonging the quarrel.

Every time we come across a fervent emotion, we have the chance to take a deep breath, and take a step back from it. Look at it, from a distance. Detach from it. We then might get a glimpse of calm, of peace, of stillness. It lies in every breath we take. The more we notice it, the more we feel it. The more we feel it, the happier we get. We become independent and free. Try it.
